Even though less than 1% of the state is covered by water, Colorado is home to some of the most beautiful lakes and rivers in the country.

From crystal clear, very cold mountain streams to giant reservoirs, the water that is in Colorado is a vital part of the ecosystems in the state. And it is the birthplace of the Rio Grande River that winds its way down through Colorado and New Mexico to become the border between Texas and Mexico.
